We are excited to announce the publication of Shadows on the Path, Chalk Circle's second illustrated anthology of short stories, launched on 16th October 2021 in Ditchling and online.
Shadows on the Path STRATA 2 is a compelling collection of over 20 stories from the eight Sussex based authors who make up Chalk Circle - in part a response to the inspiring artwork of our illustrator, John Vernon Lord (V&A Illustrator of the Year 2018).
From sinister tales to comic anecdotes, brave new beginnings to tragic ends, here are stories of transformation and discovery waiting to be explored. Culprits, victims, enemies, friends – join a miscellany of curious characters as each treads their own path through the shadowy woods.
To whet your appetite here's a free sneak preview featuring extracts from some of the stories. And here's what our reviewers have to say.
Chalk Circle Writers go from strength to strength with their second volume – a collection of very different stories all built from the smallest of details to shock and surprise – a tremendous achievement. Jon Walter
